Save the Points

Updated: Dec 4, 2024

So you've saved the date and

started saving the money... now what?

Save the Points!

You pay the credit card, so why not let the credit card "pay" you?

Funny enough, credit cards were something I did not dabble in before meeting Erwin. He put me on and helped build my credit up. He would go on and on about his points working for him on this or that... "Cool," I thought, "I guess I don't need to think about all that." Can you say points passenger princess???

Over the years I reaped the benefits but did not care enough to dip into the points world. We have had a lot of great cards but one that I have enjoyed a lot is our Hyatt Chase card. They had a special offer to rack up points at a certain time that worked out for us. All this to say that I then realized the points world could be fun. Of course you should NOT spend beyond your means. Points should be gained on stuff that you regularly buy in the first place (groceries, gas, etc..).

All that to say, I have been looking for a card that may benefit our travel plans next year! There are many to choose from, here are some cards that are good in points to airline miles:

(some DO have annual fees, some are worth it)

I will link my referral below in case you do choose one of these cards!

Capital One Venture (I don't have a personal referral link but this has a lesser annual fee than the Venture X)

Hyatt Chase (this card does not offer a personal referral link from me to you)

A lot of the comparisons will show 1.5x on certain purchases or 5x on travel booked through the credit card's respective app. Be mindful of this when choosing what is best for you. Booking directly through their travel portals may be the equivalent pricing or sometimes it costs more than you would if booking on your own.

The Capital One Venture X, for example, has a promotion to earn 70,000 points when you spend $4,000 in 3 months. 70,000 could potentially pay for a ticket to Japan.. so if you have some large expenses coming up or your bills add up to that amount, definitely look into it. There are all kinds of promotions like this if you're able to search around.

You may already have a credit card that has a good points system or are unable to open a new credit card at this time. I felt the need to share some posts about opportunities to save (especially if you're already spending on regular purchases) because we really, truly hope you all can join us for this special occasion. Don't go broke for us.

that's it for now.. xoxo
